Herbert Thompson, Ph.D, is a senior statistician and principal of Ken Consulting, Inc. (KCI). Dr. Thompson studied general agriculture, agricultural education and graduated from the Universities of Missouri and Maryland and has over 40 years of agricultural experience and 28 years of Statistical/Data analysis, SAS and SPSS programming skills, and over 40 years of agricultural experience. He is experienced in advanced SAS programming, SAS Macros, SQL, SAS reporting tools such as Proc Report, Proc Tabulate, SAS Graphs on large complex databases. As faculty research associate at the University of Maryland College Park (UMCP), Dr. Thompson taught graduate level experimental design, conducted analysis labs, advised and conferred with scientists, faculty or research leaders on the design of experiments and surveys for gathering scientific data, conducted statistical analysis for USDA ARS scientists, UMCP faculty and graduate students, prepared statistical reports for USDA ARS scientists and UMCP faculty, provided advise with respect to the appropriate interpretation of statistical results and reviewed statistical aspects of reports, publications and other manuscripts written by researcher for validity, technical correctness and completeness of the analysis and interpretation. Dr. Thompson developed a probabilistic gender model with 97.3% predictive accuracy of imputing gender where gender was missing on administrated records databases for the U.S. Bureau of the Census.

 

Emmanuel Erskine, M.A., is an applied mathematician who is currently a Research Scientist/Analyst with Ken Consulting, Inc. (KCI). He has a wide-ranging background in advanced mathematical/statistical/computational modeling techniques and methodologies, including knowledge and experience with sampling, weighting, non-response analysis/adjustments, bench-marking, imputation, and assessing/minimizing survey bias, variance and error, and analysis of data from complex sample surveys. He is proficient in SAS, R, Python, among other statistical/mathematical software packages, and has the ability to utilize large scale information systems. As a researcher/consultant he has: 1) Worked with clients conducting and performing surveys by applying sampling techniques and counting responses; 2) Evaluated reliability of source information by weighting raw data and organized results for analysis; 3) Presented data by computer readouts, graphs, charts, tables and written reports; 4) Prepared and created conclusions and forecasts by analyzing and interpreting data summaries; 5) Maintained historical data records by organizing and filing statistical reports; and 6) Familiarized himself with current research studies on complex survey data by organizations like Westat with a focus on variance estimation, replication-based methods, and issues of data disclosure.
